Health Benefits of Bone Broth

Bone broth is a great source of nutrients your body needs, and an essential part of the keto diet.

It is ideal for nutrient absorption, both because it is a great source of bio-available nutrients that are easy to digest, and it is rich in amino acids.

Bone broth is great for the gut, and has awesome healing powers.

It can also support hair, nail, and skin health, and it is good for joint health as well.

Bone broth helps the skin by providing amino acids that are necessary for collagen production. Collagen is what helps to keep the skin smooth, firm, and free of wrinkles.

The amino acids found in bone broth are:

Proline

This is the precursor to hydroxyproline, which the body needs for collagen production. Proline breaks down proteins and helps to improve the elasticity of your skin.

It is also recommended for heart health.

Glycine

This is important for DNA and RNA synthesis, as well as for digestive health. Glycine is used to regulate blood sugars, for the production of glutathione, and to help digestion.

It also helps with muscle growth and repair.

The Best Bone Broth Powder for Keto

What to Look for in a Good Broth Powder

Here are a few thoughts to consider before you decide which broth powder to buy:

Quality of Ingredients

When choosing a broth powder you want to choose one that has been sustainably sourced with no added artificial ingredients or fillers.

You want to check for organic grass fed beef. Or in the case of chicken - USA farmed chicken that has not been fed any GMO products.

The Type of Bones - Beef vs Chicken

Personally I prefer the taste of beef broth, but I incorporate both into my diet as they have different nutrient profiles and for optimal health my body needs both.

Chicken broth is likely to be easier to digest, but beef may taste better.

Read more about the differences between chicken and beef broth here.

Grams of Protein

There are many powdered broth products on the market. These products vary greatly, so are really difficult to compare.

When choosing the best product, you can't go wrong by looking at the quantity (grams per serving) and quality of the protein that it contains.

Pure or Flavored

This is very much about personal preference. I like to add broth to savory food likes soups and stews, so prefer the pure powders. I also find that the flavored versions are often overly flavored and that the unflavored products are more palatable.

But if you want to add your broth powder to smoothies or desserts, you may enjoy the flavored versions.

Pure Broth vs Enhanced

Do you want a broth or do you want added nutrients like fiber and or probiotics combined into your broth powder?

Again, this is a about personal preference!

If you want your probiotics mixed into a broth, then go for it. If you feel that you'll get more from a probiotic supplement when it is stored in cold storage to maintain its integrity, then you'd want to take it separately.

Conclusion

Bone broth is important for good gut health, and it is also important for the health of our hair, nails, and bones.

For someone starting keto it is a great tool to reduce keto flu. But it is also a product that you'd want to incorporate into your low carb lifestyle on an ongoing basis.

Any of the above broths we have talked about today will be a good fit to support your lifestyle. This ancient super food has long been known for its health benefits, and you don’t have to make it from scratch when you are using one of these healthy powders.

It is not easy to compare these broths. They are sold in different sizes and made from different protein sources with varying levels of protein per serving.

If you are looking for a grass fed beef source, then my preference is the Left Coast Performance's grass fed organic beef broth. I also like it because of the high protein count per serving. It is however also one of the more expensive products included in our review.

For a chicken broth that is really great value, you can't go wrong with Ancient Nutrition's powder.

If bone broth is a regular part of your diet, you probably want to make sure that you get the best deal, so be sure to check out the subscribe and safe discounts with most of these products and check for additional discounts and coupons.

We believe the makers of the above five products have created some of the best bone broth protein powder brands, so one of these should meet your needs.

Right now, my personal favorite is the organic grass fed beef bone broth by Left Coast Performance. It may be a little pricey, but given the amount of protein per serving, it is good value for money.

Not really looking for a powder, but rather a broth? Then check out the Kettle and Fire Range here on their website (where they often have great sales and discounts) or here on Amazon.
